Industrial action on Friday 18th July: Information about refuse collections.
As part of a local dispute with Unite, refuse collections may be affected in Birmingham on Friday (18/07).
Birmingham City Council are advising residents, who are due to have a refuse collection on Friday, to put their refuse out as usual and it will be collected as soon as possible.
A spokesperson from Birmingham City Council, said: “Despite extensive talks with representatives from Unite, we have been unable at this point to reach an agreement over issues that have been raised about terms and conditions for refuse collection staff.
We will continue to talk to the unions with a view to reaching a resolution, but, regrettably, there will be two hours of industrial action, starting just after 1.30pm tomorrow (Friday 18 July 2014).
We expect there will be some disruption to services. Residents are asked to put our their refuse and recycling as usual. If it is not collected, we would ask that people take any uncollected bags, boxes and bins back onto their properties, and to present them again when their next scheduled collection is due (one week’s time for refuse and two weeks’ time for recycling).
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to reassure residents we are doing everything possible to resolve the issues relating to the dispute.”
