West Midlands Police is urging parents to reiterate ‘stranger danger’ messages following an attempted abduction near Grendon Primary School in Warstock.
The girl was approached on Wednesday morning (18/06) by a mixed race man who took her hand. The girl managed to get free and ran back to her mother who was a short distance away.
Officers are treating the incident seriously and an investigation is underway. There is currently an increased police presence at this school and neighbouring schools.
West Midlands Police has issued the following advice:
- Never go off on your own with a stranger, take things from them or get in a car with them.
- Make sure you tell your parents where you are.
- If someone scares you, or makes you feel uncomfortable go somewhere safe, which could be your home, your school or a police station. Remember to tell someone what has happened straight away.
Please call WMP on 101 to report suspicious activity or call 999 if it’s an emergency.
