UPDATE 22/10 4:32PM - A man has received a caution after a video of him assaulting a city centre street performer went viral.
A man has handed himself in to police after a video of him assaulting a city centre street performer went viral.
The man, 20, from Small Heath contacted Birmingham Police this afternoon (22/10) to make arrangements to surrender to police for questioning. He has subsequently been bailed pending further investigation.
He was filmed pushing a street performer ‘The Predator’ off his plinth towards a child on New Street near the Bullring shopping centre. The video first appeared on Facebook and went viral on Sunday (20/10) and Monday (22/10).
Birmingham Police Inspector Stuart Bill, said: “The street performer was shoved from behind and lunged forward on top of a young child who’d be staring up at him.
Thankfully both the man and the little girl appear to have been unhurt though, as neither the man or the girl’s parents have contacted police, we can’t be 100 per cent sure so I’d encourage them to contact us.”
Officers are urging the victim of the assault and the family of the little girl to come forward.
